Aging Minds

Hitsugaya and my character Hanagetsu again. I just wanted them to be acting childlike and cute, and this popped out. The text is something that I envision Toushirou saying to someone that may question them, as both are so young.

(Note: While Hitsugaya's exact age is unknown, he was at least childlike when Rukia's generation entered the academy 50 years before the start of Bleach. However, the aging process in Seireitei and Soul Society as a whole is pretty whack - Kyouraku and Ukitake have been around 2000 years and look a them - so it's hard to judge just how long he's been there. Mimei died and came to SS at a young age, about a decade before Toushirou, making her around the same "physical" age in terms of appearance. Granted, while Hitsugaya will likely gain more height if he ever grows older, Hanagetsu will only get a few more inches, remaining petite like Rukia. Regardless of the physical changes, or rather the lack thereof, over the passing of time, I think it's safe to say that the mind continues to grow over time. After all, even for a moody, serious pre-teen/teenager/whatever-the-hell-"age"-Hitsugaya-could-be-called he's too mature in action and thought for me to believe differently. He clearly thinks like an adult, on par with any of the other "older" characters in the series. After all, just because the body isn't changing, doesn't mean that the mind is not experiencing the passing of years and decades, and learning and growing over that time.)

So, upon hearing a comment about them being "too young" to have a serious relationship or some similar such blah crap, Hitsugaya will calmly reply with "Just because by living in Soul Society, our bodies have not aged regularly, doesn't mean our minds have not. Though you doubt us, we are mature enough to understand what we're doing, and what we're feeling"
